Editorial policy

This page explains how content on PolynucleotidesExplained.co.uk is researched, written, reviewed and corrected, so that you can judge how much weight to give it.
How we research
We start from peer-reviewed literature, regulator guidance and official UK sources, and we read manufacturer material critically rather than repeating it. Where a claim rests on laboratory or animal work rather than human trials, we say so.
We aim to describe uncertainty honestly. If the evidence for something is weak, small-scale or manufacturer-funded, that belongs in the text, not in a footnote.
Sourcing standards
- Preferred sources: peer-reviewed studies and systematic reviews, NHS and NICE material, MHRA guidance, UK legislation, and standards published by bodies such as the JCCP and CPSA.
- Used with caution and clearly framed: manufacturer instructions for use, consensus papers with industry involvement, and observed clinic pricing.
- Not used as evidence: testimonials, before-and-after marketing, influencer content, and clinic blog posts.
Prices and regulatory statements are time-sensitive. We describe them as observed at the review date rather than as fixed facts.
Review and update cycle
Every content page carries a “Last reviewed” date near the top. We aim to review each page at least once a year, and sooner if UK regulation changes, if a significant study is published, or if a reader raises a substantive issue.
Where a change is material — a correction of fact rather than a tidy of wording — we update the review date and, where useful, note what changed.
Independence and conflicts of interest
We do not accept payment for coverage, links or favourable wording from clinics, manufacturers, distributors or training providers, and we do not recommend individual practitioners. Any future advertising or affiliate arrangement will be disclosed on the about page and labelled in context.
Brand names appear only where they help a reader recognise what they have been offered. Their inclusion is not an endorsement, and their absence is not criticism.
